CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS

In short, chiropractic adjustments improve joint mobility, reduce muscle spasms, reduce pain and inflammation, and promote the firing of nerves which help reduce pain and help improve nervous system function. When performed by a trained physician on a person that has been properly examined, chiropractic adjustments are one of the safest treatments in all of health care.

Your body has an inborn intelligence we refer to as your innate intelligence. Your innate intelligence is your bodies inborn knowledge on how to do things such as produce more white blood cells when you are exposed to a virus, or to heal a cut, or to prevent movements which may cause injury. All forms of health care take advantage of your bodies innate abilities. For example, surgery relies on your bodies innate ability to heal itself after the surgery is performed.

Chiropractic also works by harnessing the power of your bodies innate intelligence. As chiropractors we know that the stretching of your connective tissue and the movement of your joints to their end range of motion causes an increase in pressure on the tendons and when we safely take that joint just past it's end range of motion a large neurologic response is triggered. This neurologic response results in the relaxing of the muscles and connective around the joint and causes firing of a certain group of nerves which help to reduce pain. This adjustment results in a joint which moves better and hurts less.

Not only do chiropractic adjustments result in less pain and great range of motion, but they have also been proven to increase function in the brain and spinal cord in the areas which rely on signals from our muscles and joints. In turn these areas of the brain cause a secondary increase in other areas of the brain. The end result is an overall stimulating effect on the nervous system.

Having said all of the above, this does not mean the chiropractic adjustments are safe and necessary for everyone in every circumstance. For example, it is common that we do not adjust a patient if they have suffered from a recent head injury. We prefer to rehabilitate any neurologic dysfunction prior to providing the adjustments. This is due to the powerful stimulatory effect of the chiropractic adjustment, it is so powerful that after a head injury it may overstimulate someone and cause unwanted symptoms.

There are other neurologic disorders besides head injuries which may do worse with chiropractic treatment. These disorders consist of dysfunction where the nervous system is already overactive and more stimulation only makes the matters worse. The good news is that if you have suffered from a head injury such as a concussion and have suffered a neck injury Sirucek Chiropractic Neurology Clinic has the best trained doctors to handle your condition and custom tailor a treatment plan for your specific case.
